Exploring the Significance of Clothing to People Living with Dementia using Sensory Ethnography
Textile samples created during my PhD research ‘Exploring the Significance of Clothing to People with Dementia’.
During the study I developed a series of creative, multisensory research approaches and created textile samples and textile reflective pieces to explore ideas around clothing and creative, embodied expressions.
Thematic elicitation cards. Created to explore people with dementias experiences with their clothing
Boxes created for 'playful' themed object handling sessions. Created to inspire intrigue and multisensory engagement.
Textile piece created to reflect on the tactile elements of clothing and what they can offer people with dementia.
Textile reflective piece created using sponge, embroidery and paper, to explore different types of sensory engagement.
Knitted textile sample created to promote intrigue during object handling sessions.
Textile sample created to explore holding, manipulating and having something 'close to hand'.
