Collaging Stories of the NHS
‘Fragility’, ‘Crucial’, ‘Gratitude’ explore people’s feelings about the NHS. The mixed media works sit on a bespoke wall vinyl that I created to bring unexpected texture at scale to the walls of the hospital. Commissioned by University Hospitals Bristol & Weston. Installed at Weston General Hospital
Over Weston Arts & Health Weekender 2023 we invited people to take part in drop-in creative workshops to share their thoughts, feelings, and memories about the NHS. I led these sessions in collaboration with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), and the University of Bristol.
This work was inspired by research carried out by Dr Jenny Crane, University of Bristol, which involved analysing birthday cards from patients, staff, and visitors to the NHS on its’ 75th Anniversary. This project is part of a wider national project which will cumulate in a series of events to celebrate 75 years of the NHS.
